Rich history, clear waters & stunning architecture
Planning a trip to the Mediterranean any time soon?
Malta and Gozo are two picturesque sister islands located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. Squashed in between them lies the charming, untouched Comino.

These islands are famous for their rich history, stunning architecture, clear waters, and sandy beaches. The islands’ history dates back to the Neolithic era, and since then they have been ruled by various civilisations, including the Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, and British making the Maltese culture a melting pot of these incredible legacies.
When visiting these islands, there are several highlights that you should not miss. The first on the list is the capital city of Valletta, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Valletta is a fortress city built by the Knights of St. John in the 16th century, and it is home to several historical landmarks, including St. John’s Co-Cathedral, the Grand Master’s Palace, and the Upper Barrakka Gardens.

Mdina, which is also known as the “silent city” is a fortified city located in the centre of Malta and is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe. The city’s narrow streets and charming architecture make it a popular spot for tourists. Eating a glorious slice of strawberry meringue cake whilst taking in Fontanella’s breathtaking views doesn’t sound too bad, does it?
When visiting Gozo, you simply must check out the site where the stunning Azure Window used to stand at Dwejra. Unfortunately, the arch which was a natural archway formed by the sea movements themselves collapsed in 2017, but the place still offers breathtaking views.

Another must-see destination in Gozo is the Ġgantija temples, which are one of the oldest freestanding structures in the world. Gozo is also home to Calypso’s cave, the mythical place where Homer’s hero Odysseus spent 9 years captive to the nymph Calypso. History, incredible natural landscape as well as an island seeping with culture in every possible area? What’s not to love?
